Poor Tom Ellis and Lauren German! Just about an hour ago, the cancellation of Lucifer on Fox was announced.
What is happening to entertainment? And why are streaming services drowning out actual television? Granted, there are some really great shows on Netflix and Hulu, but will streaming ultimately be the decline (God forbid death!) of major tv networks? What about the handful who don’t have or want internet? Will they be left out in the cold?
Ever since the cancellation of favorites like Warehouse 13, Fringe, Eureka, Sleepy Hollow, and now Lucifer … wait. Is there a pattern to which shows are most often cancelled? Or is it just my conspiracy theory imagination?
On a related note, I received a Nielsen survey in the mail the other day. At first, I was skeptical. So, I ventured into one of the private social media groups I belong to, and asked about it. Most say it’s worth it to fill out the survey for the money they offer to do it.
Money aside, I’m a little bit uncomfortable about wearing a device monitoring what I watch and listen to. Isn’t there a different way they can get their statistics? I’m SURE cable providers would be more than willing to put a chip in their receivers. Or is that an invasion of privacy? I’m ignorant when it comes to those things, so I’m curious.
Meanwhile, I’m seriously bummed, because another one of my favorite shows has been cancelled.
